About Us

We have come to Folsom believing that there is a real need for a gospel-centered and Christ-exalting church that teaches the whole counsel of God. Our core group has been meeting since February 2021, and we will be launching Sunday services on January 30th, 2022.

We are looking forward to everything God has in store for this church body - and we want you to be a part of it! We ask for your prayers. We welcome your presence. We request your gifts, both financial and spiritual. And we cannot wait to meet you!

Who We Are

It is our vision to plant a vibrant gospel-centered, Christ-exalting church

It is our mission to promote the fame of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the joy of all people.

Our Distinctives:

  1. Christ-Exalting

  2. Sufficiency of Scripture

  3. Expository Preaching

  4. The 5 Solas of the Reformation [scripture/Christ/faith/grace/God’s glory]

  5. Evangelism/Discipleship

Our Core Values:

  1. We will passionately pursue excellence in all we do. (God’s glory)

  2. We will humbly submit ourselves to God in prayer. (Prayer)

  3. We will zealously love God and all people. (Love)

  4. We will tenaciously defend the truth and fight for unity. (Truth/unity)

  5. We will faithfully and boldly proclaim the gospel to all people. (Gospel)

  6. We will unreservedly commit to teach and obey the scripture. (Scripture)

  7. We will extend grace to one another always. (Grace)

Philosophy of Worship for a Sunday Public Service:

  1. Scripture saturated: the Bible is our ultimate guide and final authority for all that we will do and say. The content of our singing and praying and preaching will always conform to the truth of scripture.

  2. God-centered: the ultimate priority is to glorify Him . Our service will be dominated by a vertical focus to draw our attention and affections  heavenward and this we will accomplish by making much of Jesus Christ; His glorious person and His awesome deeds.  It is our desire to experience God according to the truth.

  3. Heart and Mind: our worship service will aim at filling the mind with truth and kindling the heart to deep, strong emotions toward God.

  4. Passion and Zeal: our worship service will avoid a flippant, superficial, frivolous atmosphere, but instead will set an example of godly fear and passion and Awe.

  5. Authenticity: our worship service will avoid all deceit and hypocrisy and pretense; we will avoid all attempts to merely perform but to promote an atmosphere of a genuine encounter with the Living God.

  6. Excellence: our worship service will pursue excellence in every aspect to not distract attention from God. Our desire is to exalt His beauty and be stunned by His majesty.

  7. Music: our worship service will include the best of music from the ‘old’ and the ‘new’. We will mingle historic with contemporary music/hymns. The content always conforming with the Bible and be done in such a way as to not distract but to facilitate worship. The voices of the congregation will dominate and the music [all instruments] will be subject to the voices. Our singing will be passionate, robust and joyful.

  8. Songs: the primary tone of our worship service will be an intense joyful celebration of the Living God and His Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. It will have a triumphant, Christ exalting , joyful atmosphere. Joyful , thankful praise of God for the glorious person of Christ and all that He has done and will yet do.  This is all done to promote the fame of Jesus Christ for the glory of God for the joy of all people.

Public Worship Service of Folsom Bible Church:

The entire service will be governed by the word of God. The scriptures dictate and determine what we will say and do and more importantly, why! We will seek to speak the truth according to the scripture, with an authentic heart which genuinely seeks to honor God in all we say and do. That which scripture does not address explicitly will be seen as a Romans 14 issue of personal preference. The question, “How does this help the congregation to worship God in unity?” Or “How does this glorify God?”

Therefore, we will intentionally design our public services to the exaltation of God. Every aspect will be geared toward igniting our emotions to love Him with all of our heart, mind and soul. We will attempt to always to set an example of reverence and passion and joy in Christ.

Therefore, our public prayers will express our humble dependence upon God, recognizing His power and love for His own as we seek His presence in our worship service and His assistance to worship Him in a manner worthy of His name.  We will attempt to avoid any trite, trivial cliches, any pretense or theatre but will come before God with a genuine passion for His glory. We will pray believing that God is and that He is the rewarder of those who seek Him.

Our congregational songs will be first and foremost, true according to scripture and we will magnify God’s perfections and His works; especially in the person and works of Jesus Christ. We will intentionally choose lyrics that draw our attention to Christ and our focus will be on His greatness.  We will seek to promote an atmosphere of joyful expectancy of God’s presence and thankful praise of His glory and grace. Our singing will be a robust intense expression of our love for God for His glorious grace.  The music that will accompany the singing will be played in a humble reverent manner that facilitates the worship of God and draws not attention towards themselves.  The music will not drown out the congregational voices but will only support and be subservient to them. This is not a concert to be watched but a worship service to be participated in by those who know and love Christ.

Our preaching will be the explanation of the written text of the Bible . Since we believe the scriptures are the inerrant word of God and we believe that every word of scripture is inspired by Him, we will therefore seek to preach the whole counsel of God to the church. And since we believe the scriptures are primarily Christ -centered, our preaching will be as well; proclaiming His greatness and calling all to trust Him as the all-sufficient savior and sovereign Lord. Indeed, our preaching will promote the fame of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the joy of all people.

[1 Cor.10:31; Rev. 4:11; 5:9-11; 1Cor.3:16,6:19; Eph.5:18-20; Heb. 13;15; Col.3:16; John. 4:24; Ps. 95,96,97,98,99,100; Col.1:28; 2Cor.4;5; Jhn.5:39; Lk.24;25-26, 44-46]

Philosophy of Evangelism/Discipleship:

It is the proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ to those who do not know Him. It is to tell of the person and the works  of Jesus , according to the scriptures, including His sacrificial death and resurrection and His glorious return. It is to proclaim Jesus as the worlds only savior and calling all sinners to repentance from sins and unbelief and to faith in Christ; following Him as Lord.

This is to be our intentional lifestyle; prayerfully prepared to speak the gospel everyday, everywhere to everyone we come into contact with.  It is the responsibility of every disciple of Christ to make disciples of Christ beginning with evangelism. [Mt. 28:19-20; 1 Pt.2:10; 3:15; 1 Thess. 1:9-10; Rom. 10:17; Acts 4:12]

It is to take those who have repented from their sins and are believing in Jesus and begin to teach them to obey all that Jesus commanded. The convert will be trained in biblical knowledge, godliness and skills so that they will in turn make disciples of Christ [p.152, T/V]  . This is the goal of all Christian ministry and is the sign of a robust and thriving church. Believers maturing in the faith who are helping other believers mature in the faith so they can in turn help others mature in the faith. This would include any formal classroom teaching of scripture, public services of preaching, small groups and one on one. [Mt. 28:19-20; Col. 1:28; 2Tim2:2; 2Cor.4:5]. We will fill the mind with biblical sound doctrine and exhort the will to practice this sound doctrine and will live before them according to the sound doctrine. All of this is supported by humble, reliant prayer and all for the glory of God.

Philosophy of Preaching:

Since we believe the 66 books of our English bible [Gen -Rev] is the inspired word of God; inerrant, infallible [in the original autographs], authoritative, clear and sufficient for all that we need to be saved and to please Him, they demand expository preaching. We will use the tested and approved method of the literal, historical, grammatical and contextual hermeneutic which seeks to come to the original author’s intent. We study to come to the meaning of the scripture and we will proclaim the truth with boldness and fearless conviction that this is the word of God.  We will call all who hear to submit and obey.

We believe the scriptures are Christo-centric [Luke. 24:26-27, 44]: therefore our preaching will be Christ-centered and Christ-exalting; proclaiming His fame as the All-sufficient savior and sovereign Lord and calling all people to trust in Him for God’s glory and their eternal joy.

Preaching the word of God is His ordained means to bring His church to spiritual maturity [Col.1:28; 2Cor. 4:5] and through preaching, the Good Shepherd’s voice is actually heard by His own and they follow Him [John 10:27]. We will practice expository preaching as we seek to teach the whole counsel of God.

We will seek to accomplish all this by God’s grace in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore every ministry of the Folsom Bible Church will meet our mission and help fulfill our vision.
